The Holy Nail

I never thought I would be writing about nails.  But when my friend Bob told me about he and his wife's unusual passion, and then showed me the scratch marks on his body, I was shocked.  He looked like he had been in a fight with a 5' tall cat.

Since I didn't know that such a fetish existed, I had to start reading.  There is no wiki page for this!  Can you believe that?  I couldn't - but I still found what I was looking for.

Amychophilia is the fetish of people who get aroused by being scratched with long nails.
Yup.  That is Bob.  Too bad his wife's name isn't Amy or they would really fit together.

But I had to know more.  Is it best during sex or part of foreplay?  Is it only when you are in the heat of building a great orgasm or does it happen at rest also?  Does your wife only use her nails or does she have any sex toys like cat scratchers or back scratchers?  What about your wife -- does she like to be scratched too?

"Slow down" Bob told me.  "Too many questions at once.

There is no right or wrong time.  Sometimes it is part of the foreplay, like when she gently runs her nails up and down the shaft of my penis, or when she pulls my testicles tight and scratches underneath.

Other times is is during sex, usually when I am on top.  She likes to reach across my back and scratch from the center of my back to the outer edge.  Sexually, she enjoys doing it, but she gets even more exited after when she can see what she did.   Sometimes I have to bring her off again after she has looked at what she did to my back!

nail scratcher Amychophilia

Yes, we have a few toys that we use for scratching and funny enough, one really is a back-scratcher.

But the one that is unbelievable is the "cat scratcher" that she puts on her fingers and lightly runs up and down the entire length of my body.  That one is size of a bear claw and is both exciting and scary as hell.

And it is not like we plan to do any scratching; we have sex and the scratching is a natural extension of what we do."

Yes, I agree that those cat scratcher nail things do look a little scary for me, but if Bob is happy, so be it.  I had read about people using pinwheels but I knew that wasn't really "scratching".  Supposedly that is like thousands of small needle pricks going into your skin and the thought of that always turned me off.

But I knew guys who used to show off the scratches on their back in college as being "badges of honor"; as in they did such a good job to the girl that she replied with scratches.  I understood where they were coming from but always thought it was strange.  I have always associated scratching with pain and protection rather than sexual fulfillment so all of this has been weird to comprehend.

In the end, I decided if it made them happy and it didn't hurt anyone, then who am I to question.  To each his own.
